his project had an interesting start. While I was never particularly interested in Marine Corps items, per se, life often deals you cards that you have to play. This project came as a result of my first marriage, when my wife and I decided to have a Civil War period wedding. My brother was going to be my best man, and since he was an active duty Marine, we decided to outfit him as such. We then embarked upon a journey to find an original coat to base the reproduction upon. This was the beginning of my friendship with the Stamatellos brothers. There was not a single bit of hesitation to help in the project, and they also located a pair of original Marine Corps shoulder scales. Both of these guys have hearts of gold and have been a true friend to the hobby. This coat is copied from an original that is still in their collection, which was lined in the skirts and fronts, and had practicable buttonholes on both lapels.
