Date Added: Wednesday 20 January, 2016 While I am hesitant to suggest that an item is perfect, these shoes approach the limit of perfection and in doing so raise the standard by which all other reproduction footwear is measured. These are not to be mistaken for the crude reproductions of other purveyors of footwear. The toe has the correct square shape with just the right amount of spring suitable for the period. After a full days wearing traipsing the Gettysburg battleground, I can say they are exceedingly comfortable and the heel fits tightly, which is remarkable as a common fault of congress gaiters then and today is that the heel is too loose and allows the foot to slip. The quality of the leather and workmanship suggests that they will be long wearing. The only suggestion I have is that the owner takes care of them, and ensures they use a boot jack to remove them to prevent damage to the heel.
