Date Added: Thursday 02 June, 2011 I received my new Officer's Shell Jacket from Mr. Sekela this past Friday, just before my unit's annual Memorial Day weekend event at the Leister House in Gettysburg at the invitation of the NPS. It fit like it was tailored for me "right out of the box." The dark indigo blue color of the jacket is perfect, and the attention to detail is superb. The velvet-lined collar and cuffs and the curve to the sleeves are indeed indicative of the attention that was put into custom-made officers' clothing in those far-off days. The internal quilting, with two internal breast pockets, gives the jacket its distinctive shape that sets it off from the usual "sutler row" items, and--one of my favorite touches--the external crescent-shaped watch pocket on the left breast was the perfect place to stow my big period key-winder. Paired with Nick's McDowell pattern forage cap and his "military vest"--which I've used for years in both enlisted and officer impressions, and have received many favorable comments upon--I had a look that was, if I dare say it about myself, hard to beat! I recommend this item heartily to anyone looking to move up to the top notch of quality in his officer duds.
