Date Added: Monday 26 May, 2014 Our local Midwest group decided to do a Mexican War impression. While I was debating on whether to do a volunteer militia or a regular army impression I came across Nick's Facebook page and saw his newest addition, the 1832 Shell Jacket. Being a virgin to Mexican War garments, but having purchased quality items from Nick in the past, I decided to make the purchase.
When I received the Shell I was blown away with the fine craftsmanship and addition to detail. The Shell is a jacket of simple design made of sky-blue kersey wool, unlined except for the sleeves, and has a nine button front with white pewter buttons. The piping is infantry white and the standing hook-up collar is 2 5/8 inches according to regulations (I measured it). The sleeve cuff is the 2 1/2 inch with a cut.
Meticulous, painstaking, studied, there are not enough superlatives to describe this welcomed addition to Historic Clothiers inventory. Thank you, Nick, for your quality service and taking time to answer my questions along the way in making this decision to buy.
