Date Added: Saturday 14 September, 2019 I want to relate a very positive experience that I had with NJ Sekela.
My health and weight has me at a point where I would not yet show up at an event or display and participate, but I have been gathering all I can that fits me and is campaigner quality with an eye toward the future. In fact I have everything but a jacket that fits me for union and confederate kits at this point. All I own is campaigner quaility.
I wanted to get a 4 button Federal fatigue blouse in a size that goes beyond the size 54 that most people set as their limit in size. I thouight I was a 56 but found out that I am back up to a 58-60 currently with plans to change that soon.
After advertising for months for large size stuff and even talking to 3 different campaigner quality makers - one who said he was having issues finding the right width fabric - a legit reason and I am not bad mouthing him at all, I simply decided to put that search on hold until I dropped weight. The other two just never followed up and left me hanging.
Nick approached me after seeing my more recent posts looking for stuff, I told him my current sizing and he replied simply "I can make it"
I gave him my sizing and paid for an unlined, economy 4 button fatigue blouse and some canteen webbing. I got a confirmation by email that my order was received. 3 weeks later I received a message my coat and order would ship that coming Friday or following Monday. Two days after the suggested shipping days, Nick contacted me to confirm the amount of webbing I needed (I had ordered too little for a canteen) and to tell me my order would ship once he cut the right length of webbing.
That was Thursday, I am in the same state so received my order today.
I could not be more pleased. Coat construction and flannel material are amazing. The quality is amazing, fit is great, sleeves a little long but I will say that is probably MY fault. I told him my shirt size and jacket size and I did wear a mostly 36 sleeve dress shirt when I worked, but thats because i liked the shirt comfy and sleeves to not pull back a lot when I reach up. I probably should have measured.
Original examples in "For Fatigue purposes" also show coats being worn like this on some soldiers (too long or too short or too big or too small) The style of the cuff on mine is consistent with the cuffs on the pre war one sent in 1858 to I believe is in a Danish(?) museum. Very deep cuts and cuff...Therefore I have options if I choose I can tailor it or roll it or leave it. I am completly ok with that.
So I would say to all my experience from start to finish was professional. Communication was great and the product (as are all the things he has made that I bought secondhand) was amazing and well made.
