    1860's Metropolitan Police Hat
    [0729]

    Price:  $250.00

    Available Options:

Widely seen in photographs this hat has a distinctive shape, which is unlike either the Model 1839 Forage cap or "Mechanic" style caps. The silhouette is more of a bellcrown shape akin to the early shakos of the period. The side panels of the crown are not only higher, but also have a convex shape to them. In keeping with the earlier construction method, the visor is reinforced with a leather welt along thattachment to the cap, and has a faux binding embossed along the edge. The sweatband is wide as was the custom of the period, and also retains the tape draw along the inner edge.
