Red Flannel shirts were well documented to have been issued and contracted for, most notably for the state of Illinois (see newspaper proposal at left. There is also the contract proposal to Schuylkyl Arsenal from WL Clifford of Philadelphia. This reproduction, offered in 100% red wool flannel typifies the many varieties of shirts issued to the army during the course of hostilities. The buttonholes are hand finished, and the buttons are of painted black tin. This is available in issue sizes, as well as Large and XXL, which were known to have been done on an individual basis depending on the needs of larger sized soldiers.
