    William Numsen Bottlentroduced as our first piece for Indian War reenactors, this fruit jar was a stock design that was also utilized by Wells, Miller & Provost as well as W.K. Lewis and Brothers. This fluted neck patterns starts to appear at the end of the Civil War, is is present on other cathedral style bottles of the 1870's.

    William Numsen was a major innovator in the canning industry, so much so, that he was sought after by Gail Borden for canning of condensed milk. He opened the Baltimore Condensed Milk in York Pennsylvania just before the Gettysburg campaign, which handled production under the Borden patent.
