The following article was pbulished in the Hartford Daily Courant on May 24th, 1861, discussing satinette, and the deleterious effect of comixing with shoddy. There was a very large scandal discovered in the early war use of satinette by Brooks Brothers, resulting in an official inquiry, which is a topic for another separate article.
