While this item is available for quite some time, we have embarked upon having our own copies made with a slightly different detail. We own several originals of this item, one of which is marked on the fork "UNION ARMY KNIFE". The original knife was produced by the Union Knife Company, in Naugatuck, Connecticut. Interestingly enough, the company continued after the war, and was later sold to K-Bar, which produced the famous Marine fighting knife of World War II. Personally, I love items that have a history to them, and am glad that I can share them with my friends. These types of items are perfect for doing living histories or school presentations. Or reproduction knife required TWO stamps, one with UNION ARMY KNIFE, and the other which says UNION KNIFE COMPANY, NAUGATUCK. You will be able to see these if you hit the large scale viewing button. As of 6/1/08 we are now offering this correctly plated spoon!!! We previously had them with the raw steel on the spoon, and after diligent searching found a plater that was willing to bring this handy item to a higher level of accuracy.
